Biography
Ramutė Kalnėnaitė (cello player) was born in 1956 in Vilnius on June 8. From 1964 to 1975 she studied at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts, studying cello in the class of Romanos Armonas. Her first international and first-place wins in several republican competitions were won at the school.
1975-1980 – studies at the Moscow P. Tchaikovsky Conservatory. All qualification categories were granted (performer-soloist, teacher, chamber ensemble performer and orchestra soloist). At the request of the Republic of Lithuania, she was assigned to work in the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, led by Saulius Sondeckis.
1980-1982. continued her studies (without a republican place) at the Moscow P. Tchaikovsky Conservatory as a solo assistant-intern. She studied in Moscow for all seven years in the class of Prof. Stefan Kalyanov.
1983 upon returning to Lithuania, she was invited to work at the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts. She teaches cello, chamber ensemble and works as an illustrator.
1984 – won 1st place in the Interrepublican Competition of Musicians-Performers (prestigious international)
He has performed in the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Latvia, Estonia, France, Switzerland, Germany, Belarus, Uzbekistan, the USA, and in the most prestigious halls of major cities in Russia. He has performed solo with the Lithuanian National and Latvian National Symphony Orchestras, the Lithuanian Chamber Orchestra, the Klaipėda Chamber Orchestra, the National M. K. Čiurlionis School of Arts String Orchestra, and the Tashkent Conservatory Chamber Orchestra. He has participated in International and Republican music festivals in France and Lithuania (Th. Manno, "Alternatyva", "Kristupo Vasaros", "Druskininkai Vasaros with M. K. Čiurlionis", etc.).
In 2001, he represented Lithuania at the Mstislav Rostropovich International Cello Festival in Riga.
In 2004-2005, he performed P. Tchaikovsky's "Variations on a Rococo Theme" in the performances-concerts of the American choreographer "Reflections" at the LNOBT for the entire season.
He has recorded a lot of music for the LRT funds.
He has performed chamber music programs with excellent Lithuanian and foreign performers.
In 2005, he was granted the status of an Artist. Member of the Lithuanian Musicians' Union since the day the union was reestablished.
From 2006 to 2015, he was a member of the quartet "Akademija". The quartet has performed many concerts in Lithuania with various soloists.
In 2012, he recorded a CD (W. A. Mozart and C. M. Weber quintets with clarinet).
Long-standing friendship with the Lithuanian Writers' Club - participates in events not only in Vilnius, but also throughout Lithuania.
Active methodological activities:
Prepared a cello program for the string department (2005).
Organizes international and republican master classes for Lithuanian cello teachers and students.
Conducts master classes, among which stand out courses in Belgium, the Czech Republic (Prague, Zbraslav), Estonia (Tallinn), Latvia (Riga) and many Lithuanian cities, Vilnius music schools.
From 2012 to 2020. taught at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre, Department of Pedagogy.
From 2019 to the present, teaches at the VMU Academy of Music, Department of Instrumental Music, Department of String Instruments, as an associate professor.
