I was born on October 25, 1950 in Riga. In 1968 I graduated from the Emil Dārzinis Music School. In 1973 I graduated from the Latvian State Jāzeps Vytols Conservatory.

In 1973–1975, I improved my knowledge at the Moscow State Conservatory with Professor Mstislav Rostropovich, and later with Natalia Shakhovskaya. After graduating from the Moscow State Conservatory, from 1975 to 1990 I was the first cellist in the Riga Philharmonic Chamber Orchestra.

Since 1990, I have been working as a teacher at the Emil Dārzinis Music School in Latvia. I also worked for 20 years at the Latvian National Opera Orchestra. In 2024, I received the "Great Music Award" (Lielā Mūzikas balva) in the nomination "For Lifetime Contribution" in Latvia.

I am still actively involved in various public projects and musical activities.
